William Beard

William “Bill” Beard is the Municipal Affairs Liaison at the Goldwater Institute, where he works with cities, towns, and counties to find solutions that protect taxpayers and promote a limited and transparent government.

Bill has long been active in policy work at the federal, state, and local levels, advocating for reforms that strengthen individual liberty. As a member of the Pima County Election Integrity Commission, he worked with people from both sides of the political aisle to draft legislation, improve procedures, and assist elected leaders at the state and county levels in increasing transparency and accountability. Bill was previously elected by acclamation as the 2014-2016 Pima County Republican Party Chair, and has also served on multiple committees with the state and local parties.

Bill is an alum of the Tucson Arizona Boys Chorus and has served for many years on the Board of Directors, including as board chair. Prior to joining the Goldwater Institute, Bill spent over three decades as a landscape contractor and owned his own business for many years. He was also a member of the Arizona Board of Massage Therapy and the Nominating Committee Commission on Appellate Court Appointments. He has additionally served at chair of the Log Cabin Republicans of Arizona, as well as Tucson chapter president.

Bill and his partner Al are both natives of Tucson. They have three dogs: Callie, Daisy Duke and Minnie Pearl.
