Michael Frazier

Michael Frazier is a State Affairs Manager for the Goldwater Institute. Proudly from Powell County, Kentucky, he works to advance individual liberty, constitutional governance, educational freedom, property rights, and government accountability.

Michael founded the Kentucky Student Rights Coalition in 2016 and helped lead the movement to pass Kentucky’s Campus Free Speech Act. He later helped advance the Kentucky Campus Due Process Protection Act, recognized as a national gold standard for protecting students and faculty accused of misconduct.

Michael has also worked to end mandatory DEI programs, replace race-based higher education funding metrics with need-based policies that better support low-income students, and pass the Kentucky REINS Act to restore legislative oversight of executive regulations.

Michael’s work has earned national recognition, including the 2020 Hugh M. Hefner First Amendment Award in Education and a lifetime achievement award for protecting the equal protection clause, and constitutional rights.

Outside of policy, Michael has helped support homeless students and young people facing food and housing insecurity. He lives in Kentucky and remains committed to expanding opportunity, protecting civil liberties, and strengthening government accountability.
