Week in Review: Remember Our Bravest Heroes

This Memorial Day weekend, with deep gratitude, we thank the men and women who paid the ultimate price to secure the blessings of liberty in defense of our country.

Throughout each generation, freedom has faced assault—and at times the threat of extinction—from the forces of totalitarianism, statism, and collectivism. And each generation, America’s fighting forces have responded to the call to defend America as the birthplace of liberty and the world’s last, best hope for its preservation. The bravest among those have laid down their lives to ensure that we can live ours freely and in pursuit of happiness.

Please join me in remembering America’s fallen heroes and their families and in honoring their eternal legacy.

FACT-CHECK: Anti-school choice progressives claim Arizona’s universal Empowerment Scholarship Account (ESA) program subsidizes the education of “wealthy” families at public schools’ expense.

In reality, a just-released Goldwater Institute report reveals Arizona spends 10-20 times as much each year subsidizing the education of “wealthy” students through public schooling than it does supporting similarly situated students via the universal ESA program. And in virtually every single case, it costs more to educate a single K-12 student in the public school system than via an ESA.

Goldwater is proud to have pioneered the nation’s first ESA program in Arizona more than a decade ago, expanded ESAs to the whole state in 2022, and enacted universal school choice in a whopping 10 states.

The floodgates of school choice have been flung wide open. But we’re not done yet.

Liberty Movement Rallies to Goldwater

Do parents have a right to record meetings with public school officials about their own child’s education?

Organizations in the liberty movement are rallying to Goldwater’s side in defense of a Boston-area dad’s First Amendment right to record government officials. Goldwater has asked the U.S. Supreme Court to take up the case, which began after those officials tried to arbitrarily remove critically important services from Scott Pitta’s 17-year-old son J.J., who has special needs.
