A Is for the American Dream Makes Real Impact on Students in Scottsdale

April 19, 2024

Picture this: a world where every child knows that the American Dream is within their reach. A world where they’re not just taught about bravery, hard work, and opportunity, but one where they see it come alive in colorful illustrations and captivating stories. The Goldwater Institute’s new children’s book, A Is for the American Dream, is helping to make that world a reality.

We’re thrilled to announce that as part of their “American Pride Library Program,” grassroots activists with Scottsdale United for Educational Integrity secured community support to generously donate copies of A Is for the American Dream to 19 libraries in the Scottsdale Unified School District, opening doors for thousands of young minds. It’s an important development in Goldwater’s work to shape a generation that believes in the boundless possibilities of their own futures.

At the Goldwater Institute, we believe every child should recognize that the American Dream is attainable. However, today, many children are not being taught the fundamental principles of our nation. Some are even being led to believe that the American Dream is out of reach for them, while also being exposed to divisive dogmas like Critical Race Theory (CRT) and diversity, equity, and inclusion (DEI). It’s a troubling trend, and parents are feeling increasingly marginalized from discussions about their children’s education. Now more than ever, children need to learn about the true values upon which our nation was founded. That’s precisely why we created A Is for the American Dream.

With A Is for the American Dream available soon at libraries in the Scottsdale Unified School District, its impact will be far-reaching. This donation not only provides students with access to valuable resources, but also supports teachers who want to revitalize their curricula with fresh content aimed at fostering critical thinking skills. By introducing students across the district to concepts of the free-market economy and entrepreneurship, as well as enhancing their proficiency in the history of our nation, we’re laying the groundwork for a more informed generation of young people.

This book is not just another children’s story—it’s a tool to educate and inspire. Through colorful illustrations and engaging storytelling, A Is for the American Dream teaches children about important American principles like bravery, hard work, liberty, and opportunity. It shows them that no matter their background or circumstances, the American Dream is within their grasp.

Join us in spreading the message of hope and opportunity to the next generation. The Goldwater Institute will continue to ensure that every child knows the American Dream is for them—and that they have the power to achieve anything they set their minds to.
