Listen to “Timothy Sandefur on The Libertarian Constitution” on Spreaker.

Last year, I participated in a project sponsored by the National Constitution Center to draft a new Constitution for the United States. The Center chose a Progressive team, a Conservative team, and a Libertarian team, and asked them to revise the Constitution to better comport with their political values. Joining me on Team Libertarian were Ilya Shapiro of the Cato Institute and Professor Christina Mulligan of Brooklyn Law School. You can read our finished product here—and our explanation here.

This weekend, I spoke with Bob Zadek on his Bay Area radio show about our work. What did we think the Founders got wrong originally that needed fixing? What mistakes in interpretation by the Supreme Court were we trying to clear up? What provisions of state constitutions did we incorporate into our proposed new federal constitution? You can listen to our conversation above.

Timothy Sandefur is the Vice President for Litigation at the Goldwater Institute.
