Standards Gone Awry: Arizona Third Graders Must Learn About Latinx but Not Lincoln

Just 39% of Arizona third graders who attend a traditional public school are proficient in reading, but thanks to the state’s official social studies standards, you can bet those kids will learn at least one thing: the term “Latinx.”

Meanwhile, Abe Lincoln is now an optional part of history education.

For those unfamiliar, “Latinx” represents a politically activist term birthed in left-wing academic circles in an attempt to replace the terms “Latino” or “Latina” with a more “gender-inclusive” alternative.
