Thank Our Veterans for Fighting to Preserve the Blessings of Liberty

The blessings we enjoy living in the greatest country the world has ever known must be fought for, daily. And it is America’s veterans who have done that fighting.

Those who have served in our nation’s armed forces were not conscripted. Instead, they served because they chose to.

Military service, of course, can be dangerous, and our servicemembers swore to face danger – even death – in defense of our country.

But even under the best of circumstances, military service is difficult. There is endless unpredictability and countless professional and personal sacrifices, including many moves, missed birthdays, skipped weddings, and lost life events that cannot be replaced.

As a nation, we ought to demonstrate our gratitude to those who serve with more than just words. That’s why the Goldwater Institute has worked to make it easier for military spouses to continue working in their careers when they move across state lines. Military families are frequently on the move, and we must recognize the challenges that mobile life can pose and provide the adaptability that these families need.

Today, we send a deep and sincere thank you to our nation’s veterans for choosing to live a difficult life so that we can live our lives in peace and freedom. And we thank you for fighting to ensure that America’s freedom will endure.
